Meet Archway Academy Alum Savannah

My name is Savannah. I attended Archway from 2010-2011 and joined the recovery staff from 2013-2015.

What a time it was! As a student, I was met with constant support academically, emotionally, and mentally. The staff as a whole created a safe and stable space during a very wild and unstable time of my life. As a staff member, I was offered a seat at a table of intelligent, kind, and successful men & women that went on to shape my adulthood. While my role was to support our students, I gained much more than just a salary in return. As a young woman I can confidently say it was one of the most important and positive influences that set me out on the beautiful adventure that my life is today. I went on to attend holistic health schools, worked on sustainable farms, and became certified in different movement modalities. This allowed me to begin a career in the health & fitness industry and subsequently led me into Martial Arts. A few years ago I moved to Mexico with my now husband to train MMA, learn Spanish, and work with startups until we got pregnant last year. We had our baby girl in September and I am now experiencing an entirely new sense of fulfillment and love. Every night I get to thank God for my family and our lives together.

Looking back today I’m so grateful for the wonderful impact Archway had on me and how that unfolded into the life I get to live today. Thank all of you so very much.”

ABOUT ARCHWAY ACADEMY

Archway opened its doors in 2003 to offer students and worried families in the throes of teenage substance use a viable option and support system for restoring their child’s physical, mental, emotional, and academic health. We’re located in the heart of Houston, Texas, and are focused on meeting the individual educational needs of teens recovering from substance use disorder with care, compassion, respect, and rigor. Instead of returning students to the same environments in which they’re most at risk for relapse or might have trouble catching up academically, Archway provides a structured place for teens to continue both their recovery and their education without compromising either.

We offer a continuum of care from probation officers to private counselors, residential treatment clinicians to Alternative Peer Groups. Archway keeps in constant contact with every student’s unique personal network — triaging tasks and arming our students (and each other) with shared information to ensure that no important details slip through the cracks; to address behaviors and remove barriers; and to remain consistent and aligned in our approach to getting each student well. Today, we are the largest recovery school in the country, and currently mentoring new recovery schools throughout the nation.
